BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 1. Iran’s Shahid Salimi (Neka) Thermal Power Plant in the Mazandaran Province (northern Iran) generated 588 million kilowatt-hours of electricity for the 2nd month of the current Iranian year (April 21 through May 21, 2022), the head of Iran’s Neka Power Generation Management Company Hossein Ali Taziki said, Trend reports citing Iranian Energy Ministry.

The official noted that more than 554 million kilowatt-hours of the electricity generated for the second month was supplied to the country's electricity network.

Taziki added that 90 percent of the electricity was generated by steam units and 10 percent - by combined-cycle units.

“At present, 2 steam units and 1 combined cycle unit of the power plant are being overhauled,” he said.

Taziki also pointed out that over the second month, the Shahid Salimi TPP has fulfilled 10.9 percent of its annual plan.

Iran's Shahid Salimi (Neka) TPP has four steam units, and each of them can generate 440 megawatts of electricity. The thermal power plant also has two gas units, each of which can generate 137.6 megawatts of electricity.

In addition, the TPP has one gas-steam unit with a capacity of 160 megawatts of electricity and two expansion turbines with a capacity of 9.4 megawatts each.

Iran's Shahid Salimi Neka TPP has the capacity to generate a total of 2,214 megawatts of electricity and accounts for more than 4 percent of electricity generated in Iran.
