SHUSHA, Azerbaijan, June 4. Work has been already launched on the creation of a "green" zone in the Azerbaijani territories liberated from Armenian occupation [in the 2020 Second Karabakh War], Azerbaijan's Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said during a special session on 'Path to Zero Emissions: Developing the Green Energy Potential of the Liberated Territories' on the sidelines of the Baku Energy Week in Shusha city on June 4, Trend reports.

According to Shahbazov, by instructions of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the concept of a "green" energy zone in Karabakh and East Zangazur has already been developed and is being implemented.

"The first steps have already being taken in this direction. All the documents signed today are intended for the implementation of a number of projects in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur, as well as in all regions of the country. Today we signed specific projects to create new sources here. However, the concept of "green" energy includes not only generating capacity, but also its transmission and consumption," he noted.

"The signing of these projects in Shusha today, as well as the implementation of some provisions of the green energy concept and further cooperation between international energy companies and Azerbaijan in the development of renewable energy sources, will accelerate the transformation of green energy in Azerbaijan," added the minister.
