Iran, Iraq establish special joint working group

TEHRAN, Iran, June 23. Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Company Mohsen Khojastehmehr announced the establishment of a joint Iran-Iraq working group to identify new cooperation capacities and transfer of technology and equipment to Iraq, Trend reports citing SHANA.

Khojastehmehr made the remarks during a meeting with high-level delegation from Iraq headed by the Iraqi Deputy Minister of Oil, consisting of Iraqi oil and gas drilling companies' managers.

He expressed Iran's readiness to cooperate in exploration, development and production of joint oil and gas fields of the two countries, and collection of gas flares burning in Iraqi oil fields, especially across Iran's borders.

Referring to Iran's presence in Iraq for technical and specialized assistance to the Iraqi oil industry, Iran's readiness to restore Iraqi oil wells was noted.

During the meeting, the two countries agreed to announce Basra Oil Company and the National Iranian South Oilfields Company, as 'sister companies'.
