BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 23. Necessity to raise additional funds for the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) project hasn’t emerged yet, Azerbaijani Finance Minister Samir Sharifov told reporters, Trend reports.
"If there is a need to attract additional financial resources to the project, the government will consider it," Sharifov said.
According to him, Azerbaijan's interests in the Southern Gas Corridor project are represented by the SGC company.
"Both the government of Azerbaijan and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) have shares in the company. The government is represented in this project by the Ministry of Economy. At the initial stage of the project, financing was attracted by the SGC company itself," the minister.
As he noted, the government has always provided the necessary support to the SGC company, the guarantor of which is the state.
"Resources were also attracted from many financial institutions, such as the Asian Infrastructure Development Bank, the European Development Bank, and the World Bank," he added.
