BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 24. Lithuanian companies can offer Azerbaijan high quality solar modules based on high efficiency and durability, Ambassador of Lithuania to Azerbaijan Egidijus Navikas said in an exclusive interview with Trend.
“We are aware that Azerbaijan aims to increase the share of renewables in total electricity production. Lithuania has strong position in developing the renewable energy sector, especially solar energy generation,” said the envoy.
He went on to add that the war in Ukraine was an emergency call for Europe to diversify the supply of energy resources to Europe.
“As the EU acts to end its fossil fuel dependency on Russia, no doubt there is a strong interest of the EU to strengthen energy cooperation with alternative energy suppliers and diversify its sources of supply, including obtaining larger amounts of natural gas from Azerbaijan. Appreciation to Azerbaijan as a reliable partner of the EU in the energy sector.
We expect that one day Azerbaijani gas will reach Lithuania. We presume this given our freshly new gas pipeline linking Lithuania and the Baltics to the European gas network, Lithuania’s LNG terminal capacities, Azerbaijan’s interconnections with the European Union by gas pipelines, and goals to deepen cooperation,” said Navikas.
