TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, June 27. Uzbekistan intends to implement 18 renewable energy projects, Head of the Department for Development of Generation Based on Renewable Energy Sources of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan Abdullajon Otaboev told reporters on the sidelines of a press tour to a solar photovoltaic station in Navoi on June 27, Trend reports.

Meanwhile, eight of the total number of projects with 2.7 gigawatts capacity are to be carried out by 2024.

"The country plans to undertake wind and solar farm construction projects, except for Andijan, Tashkent and Syrdarya regions," Otaboev said.

According to him, the ministry cooperates with Masdar, ACWA Power and Total Eren on the matter.

Furthermore, Otaboev outlined Uzbekistan's ambitions to boost the overall capacity of renewable electricity generation to seven gigawatts by 2026, and to 12 gigawatts by 2030.
