BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 17. Iran does not have any new contracts on gas exports, apart from the existing contracts, Manager of the Dispatching Department of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Mohammad Reza Joulaei told Mehr News Agency, Trend reports.

According to Joulaei, there are two important issues for gas export. The first is international obligations. Thus, according to international obligations, Iran must fulfill the existing gas export contracts. Otherwise, heavy fines may be imposed.

“The second issue for gas export is the signing of new contracts. It is not planned to sign any agreement in the second half of the current Iranian year (September 23, 2022 through March 20, 2023),” he added.

The official noted that Iran's gas export to Türkiye is an average of 30 million cubic meters per day. He also said that Iran's gas exports to Iraq have also increased recently.

Iran produces 900 million-1 billion cubic meters of gas per day, of which only about 6 percent is exported.
