BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 25. SOCAR Türkiye’s STAR Refinery went far beyond pre-pandemic levels in production in 2022, SOCAR Türkiye told Trend October 25.

“In particular, we resumed jet fuel production tailored to the increasing demand,” the company said.

Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) report shows that in July 2022, the refinery produced 534,849 tons of gasoline, 146,362 tons of jet fuel, 142,141 tons of other products, 19,336 tons of liquefied petroleum gas, 149,068 tons of naphtha, 68,948 tons of petroleum coke, 34,752 tons of refinery gas and 13.3 tons of high-sulphur gasoline.

When the jet fuel demand fell due to COVID-related restrictions on both national and international flights, STAR Refinery quickly converted its 1.6 million tons of jet fuel capacity to diesel.

Star Refinery, with investment value of $6.3 billion came on stream in October 2018. Around $3.3 billion of the project’s cost was covered by loans. The total investment in Star Refinery is expected to stand at $7 billion.

The annual processing capacity of Star Refinery stood at 10 million tons. It meets around 25 percent of Turkey’s refined oil products. The refinery is able to process 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
