BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 24. The average daily consumption of gasoline in Iran amounted to 114 million liters, Iranian Deputy Oil Minister and CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Jalil Salari said, Trend reports.

He noted that with the upcoming summer trips and Arbaeen days, this number is expected to increase further. Jalil Salari emphasized that the daily arrival of 800,000 cars in Tehran, most of which are single-occupant, contributes to increased consumption.

Additionally, the use of car air conditioners during the hot summer also contributes to the rise in gasoline consumption. Technical inspections and other factors also play a role in the overall consumption pattern, according to him.

The deputy minister mentioned that about 2 million cars are added annually to the country's transportation fleet. To address this situation, Jalil Salari stressed the importance of optimizing and managing the consumption of these cars, removing worn-out vehicles from circulation, and finding a balance between the number of cars and their supply.

Regarding fuel cards (a fuel card is given to each car for the purpose of buying gasoline with a quota in Iran), he mentioned that with the implementation of the plan to organize gas stations, more than 60 percent of car owners now use personal fuel cards.

The Ministry of Petroleum aims to increase this percentage to over 90 percent by the end of September this year, according to Budget Law 1402. The implementation of fuel cards aims to better manage gasoline consumption and ensure the efficient use of resources in the country.
