The operational team for the Baku-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline accepted the last section of the route from the construction group, thereby signaling the end of pipe-laying operations on the Azerbaijani side of the trunk line.

Meanwhile, BTC Co told Trend that a total of 241 km of the Azerbaijani leg of the pipeline has been filled in with crude oil as of the end of June.

In respect of the Georgian section of the route, a pipeline segment, running through the bed of the Kur River, has been put on successfully hydro-testing. “There are still six other segments pending similar testing to examine the efficiency of the 250-km-long Georgian section of the pipeline,” BTC Co reported.

In Turkey, the hiring of an additional staff is expected to accelerate the pace of construction and testing operations. “Less than four kilometers are left for entrenchment across the 1,076-km-long Turkish part of the pipeline,” BTC Co said. The entire C Segment, running 332 km from the PT4 pumping plant to terminal facilities at Ceyhan, has been put on a successful hydro-test.

In general, some 10 million barrels of crude oil are required to fill in the export pipeline with crude oil. The required turnout flows from the BP-operated Azeri - Chirag вЂ" (deepwater) Gunashli oil fields.
