Oil&Gas Materials 2 July 2005 13:43 (UTC +04:00)

The Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR) has suspended drilling of the exploration N210 well on the off-shore field “Gyurgan-Deniz”. The drilling suspension has been caused by the repair works on the other, closely sank well N 207, Trend was told at the SOCAR.

"The derrick of the first well has been involved in the repair works. We suppose to complete repair of the well N207 shortly and resume drilling of the N210 well, - the SOCAR noted.

The well’s design depth is 2900 meters, the drilling is being performed by the Absheronneft Oil and Gas Production Union (OGPU).

The SOCAR also reported, that to drill in this part of “Gyurgan-Deniz” is more complicated than on other areas. "Superhardness of rocks does not enable to speed up drilling. In other wells the drill is used for several days, and here only for some hours”, the SOCAR concluded.
