Since the beginning of transportation activities by the end of June, 2005 over 129 million barrels (17.5 million tones) of oil (including SOCAR non-ACG oil) had been transported via the Northern Route Export system, which allowed the shipment of 197 tanker loads from Novorossiysk (including 130 tank ships, over 12 million tonnes of SOCAR oil) since the beginning of transportation operations, the company reported.

On June 1, 2005 thr AIOC put first oil into the 16" Azpetrol line connecting the Sangachal terminal with the nearby Azpetrol Terminal, for onward transportation to the Black Sea port of Batumi using the Azpetrol rail system, and will continue for a short time until BTC becomes fully operational later this year. We plan to transport an average of 40,000 bpd during the early stages of BTC commissioning. To date three tankers have been loaded from Batumi, the document said.
