DRILLING OF 4-TH WELL ON SHAH-DENIZ TO START NEXT WEEK

Drilling of the 4-th well on the gas and condensate field Shah-Deniz will start the next week, BP, the project’s operator told Trend. The well is designed so, to enable to fulfill terms and conditions of the agreement with the Azerbaijan’s government on additional sales of about 3 billion cu m gas during the first three years after the start of the fuel deliveries from the field in 2006.

After the fourth advance well one more appraisal well is supposed to be drilled within the project early the next year.

The Azerbaijani-American Joint Venture Caspian Drilling Company will be engaged in drilling from the Istiglal platform, BP noted.

Capital expenditures on Shah-Deniz were $588 million in the first half-year. $1,318 billion is planned to spend by the year- end.
