SIEMENS CARRIES ON CONSTRUCTION OF SUMGAYIT POWER STATION ACCORDING TO STRICT SCHEDULE

The works at the Sumgayit electrical power station (SEPS) which construction is carried out by the German Siemens are performed in accordance with the schedule. According to the director of the AZENCO overhaul and construction company Ahmediya Shahhusseynov, inspection of the construction site was conducted together with the Siemens experts and basic lines of activities were identified, the press service of the Azerenerji Joint Stock Company told Trend.

The SEPS acting director Mammadhasan Babayev noted, the detailed monitoring of the sea coast 1,5 km from the electrical power station site was carried out.

Construction of the steam and gas plant’s (SGP) administrative building and gas turbine N1 is currently underway. Dismantling of the non-operational equipment is also carried out.

SEPS will be commissioned in October 2007. Siemens will build steam and gas plant (SGP) with the capacity of 506 MWt. For generating of 1 kWth electrical power 230 g of standard coal will be used, which is considerably lower as compared to other electrical power stations, such as the Azerbaijan hydro-electrical power station (HEPS), Alibayramli HEPS and other.

The project’s cost is about 300 million euro, including construction of a new gas line. The cost of the power station itself is 250 million euro.
