(BNS) - The Latvian and Ukrainian representatives may discuss cooperation in the construction of the oil pipeline to transport of Azerbaijani oil via Ukraine and the Baltic countries to the North Europe,” Trend reports referring to Krisjanis Karins, the Latvian Economic Minister.

He noted that if the Ukrainian government will support the idea, Riga may hold wide meeting, where politicians and entrepreneurs would discuss the implementation of the project. Karins reported that he got support of the Azerbaijani and Georgian officials.

He stated about possibility of discussion of oil transportation via Ukraine and the Baltic Countries to the North Europe. Karins noted that the transit pipeline may be laid from production places in the Caspian Sea through Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia to Ukraine, then through Belarus to Latvia, but it requires construction of 100-km pipeline in Belarus. Karins also regards the transportation of the Azerbaijani oil via pipeline system as real. “We received positive sign concerning the implementation of the project at the meeting with the Azerbaijani President and BTC representatives today,” he stressed.
