Meeting on synchronization of energy systems held in Sochi

The Azerbaijani-Russian-Iranian meeting on synchronization of energy systems was held in Sochi, the press service of Azerenerji told Trend. According to Saleh Mammadov, the chief engineer, who led the Azerbaijani delegation, attending the meeting were authoritative representatives of the Russian Single Electric Network JSC and Iranian Tavanir.

On 26 October 2004 Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran signed a draft agreement on synchronization of the energy networks of the countries in Tehran. The sides discussed the work done in this regard in Sochi. The research of the experts showed that the project was real.

The countries decided to continue the work on feasibility study of the project till January 2006. Besides, Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran plan to construct two intersystem electric transmission lines Darband (RF)-Yashma (Azerbaijan) and Imishly (Рђzerbaijan) вЂ" Parsabad (Iran), which will allow the countries to increase the energy flows between Azerbaijan -Russia and Azerbaijan-Iran up to 500 MW from 2007 to 2008 and up to 1000MW in the future.
