The Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) resumed on 25 January 2006 at 10:00 a.m. production of the Azeri Light oil from five wells on the Chirag-1 platform, BP Azerbaijan, operating the Azeri-Chirag-Gyuneshli (ACG) fields) told Trend.

On 24 January at 16.00 p.m. РђIOC halted production on five wells due to the non-operation of one of the 2 pumps on the platform because of the unfavorable weather conditions. At the result of it the oil production on the field dropped from 140,000 barrels a day to 90,000 barrels. В"The company resolved all the problems at 10.00 a.m. and continued production, which is currently at the previous level, BP said.

There are currently 20 wells on the Chirag platform, 24 of them are production ones, 6 operating water injection wells. Drilling of 21 wells will start in mid-2006 after accomplishment of offshoots cutting. About 326 million barrels of oil (over 44 million tons) have been produced on Chirag since November 1997, when the extracting on Chirag started, till late 2005.
