Azeri energy system stably produces 3,350MW
The national energy system of
500-KV Absheron Electricity Transmission Line (ETL) 2, transmitting energy from Azerbaijan Thermoelectric Power Station (TPS) in Mingachevir to Baku and Abshron Peninsula, was cut off for unknown reasons on Sunday at 13.17pm (local hours). This station produces approximately half of the energy in the country.
An operative headquarters was established under leadership of Etibar Pirverdiyev, the President of Azerenerji. According to Pirverdiyev, as a result of the cutoff of the biggest ETL of the country load was automatically transferred to other lines, which were not envisaged for such overload. It supposed that Absheron ETL 1 was also cut off as a result of operating of emergency system that led to energy blocks shutdown at Azerbaijan TPS, Alibayramly TPS, Shimal Power Station, Baku TPS, as well as many high-voltage lines, including, Yashma-Darband ETL, transmitting energy from Russian to Azerbaijan.
