Azerbaijan Railway plans to make contract with large American company in 2006
In the first quarter of the year the Azerbaijan State Railway (ASR) awaits to receive applications for transportation of oil from the ChevronTexaco company, engaged in oil producing on the large Kazakhstan Tengiz field, the ASR Administration told Trend.
The company is expected to supply up to 5 million tons of oil in transit through Azerbaijan to the Georgian Black Sea port of Batumi. The talks with the Caspian Shipping Company (CSC) of Azerbaijan on transportation of this cargo via the Caspian Sea by tankers were held last year.
26,2 million tons of various cargo have been carried last year by the Azerbaijan Railway. 73,7% of them fall at oil and oil products. The volume is expected to be grown with the transportation commencement by В"ShevronTexacoВ".
