Azertrans plans to resume work of Baku terminal

Azertrans plans to launch the oil terminal of the company, the work of which was suspended in late 2005, Trend reports. The Company is currently holding negotiations on attraction of cargoes to ship via the terminal. The shipment capacity of the terminal comprises 4,800,000 tons per year.

Over 2005 around 1,600,000 tons were shipped via Azertrans-Baku, including, 1,450,000 tons of raw oil and 165,000 tons of oil products. The maximal capacity of the terminal on shipment of oil and oil products makes up 400,000 tons per month.

The Company noted that it shipped 500,000 tons of the oil, produced from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli field by the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC), via its oil terminal in Sangachal on the Baku-Batumi route in January.

The Company is currently implementing work at the Azertrans-Sangachal terminal to receive the Kazakh oil within its transportation via the Baku-Tbilisi-Jeyhan pipeline. In particular, the Company enlarges reservoir tank storage, strengthen piers to receive high-capacity tankers, etc.
