Рђzerbaijan will not refuse the Russian gas import, the head of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Industry and Energy Natik Aliyev told journalists today, Trend reports. В"There is no such a task and I think it would be inefficient for the countrys economy and the fuel and energy balance. The gas import from Russia will remain still for the coming years and everything will depend on what prices Russia will export its gas to us, he noted.

According to him, SOCAR has its own program for gas production increase on the existing oil and gas fields, particularly, on Gyuneshli. The program is designed for 5 years and production is supposed to be enhanced here from 2 to 4,5 billion cubic meters a year.

В"I think we will limit neither import of gas nor import of electrical power from the Russian Federation. It will go on till it is profitable to both sides, he said.

Aliyev confirmed Azerbaijan is holding negotiations with Iran on purchasing additional volumes of gas. В"The SOCAR vice-President is heading to Iran soon to hold additional talks on the issue. We try to diversify the sources of energy supply to the country , he summarized.
