About 743,000 tons of technical oil pumped into BTC
BTC Co. Pipeline Company continues fulfillment of the Baku Tbilisi Ceyhan main export pipeline. 743,000 tons (5,512,000 barrels) of Azeri Light oil has been pumped into BTC so far, BP, the operator of BTC Co., told Trend. From January to February 179,000 tons (1,327,000 barrels) of Azeri Light oil was pumped to the pipeline. 10 million barrels of oil is needed for complete fulfillment of the BTC oil pipeline.
First oil arrived at the Ceyhan port in September and was shipped from tanker to one of the oil reservoirs. The consignment of Azeri Light oil was delivered to Ceyhan in early September from the Georgian port Supsa to hold testing in the terminal and fulfill a section of the Baku Tbilisi Ceyhan main export pipeline.
BTC Co purchased an oil tanker comprised of 600,000 barrels was purchased, from partners in the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC), which produces oil from the Azeri-Chiraq-Gunashli field. The cost of the tanker was calculated on the base of average monthly quotes of Platts for Azeri Light.
