Azeri gas enough to be exported to European countries - Greek Amb Temistokles Demedes

Azerbaijani gas is enough to be exported to the European countries, Temistokles Demedes, the Greek Ambassador to Azerbaijan, told Trend exclusively. He was commenting possibility of natural gas import to the European region through the Turkey-Greece pipeline.

According to Demedes, the completion of the construction of the gas pipeline, uniting the gas pipelines of Turkey and Greece, is scheduled for

2007.

It should be mentioned that the meeting of the European Commission, held in early January 2006, stressed necessity of implementation of the Nabukk project as alternative route on gas transportation to Europe.

The European Commission focused on the completion of the construction of the gas pipeline from Erzurum (Turkey) to Balkans that will allow reducing of dependence of EU from Russia.

Then the gas pipeline will pass through Rumania and Hungary to Austria.

The Nabukk gas pipeline supposes gas supply to Europe not only from Azerbaijan, but also Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Egypt and Syria.
