Water pumping by AIOC not to cause difficulties in drilling shallow-water Gunashli

Oil&Gas Materials 1 April 2006 13:43 (UTC +04:00)

There do not exist hydro-dynamic relationships between the fields located in the Deepwater Gunashli (developed by the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC)) and Shallow-water Gunashli (the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan). Thus, the water injection to the deepwater portion of the field for maintenance of the pressure will not evolve any problem in production. Absence of relationships between the fields are confirmed by the seismic and geophysical survey, carried out in the fields, specialist of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy and Industry, told Trend.

The Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC), operated by BP, is involved in drilling the subsea water injection wells on subsea manifold installed on Deepwater Gunashli field. In general some 10 subsea water injection wells will be drilled on the subsea manifolds.

First oil production from Deepwater Gunashli field under Phase 3 is scheduled for 2008. Water injection into wells drilled on two subsea manifold will start simultaneously with oil production from the wells located in the platform.

The recoverable reserves of Deepwater Gunashli field comprise 176 million tons or 1.25 billion barrels of oil.
