Purchase of the oil and oil products transporting tanks should be done by the private companies, conducting the railroads transfers in Azerbaijan. They are the most interested side in that business now, vice transportation minister, Musa Panahov told Trend.
In order to increase the oil transfers via railroads it is necessary to expand and modernize the locomotive park and purchase new oil transporting tanks and carriages, the state railroad department believes.
There is a huge necessity in purchasing new carriages now. The current park of the oil transporting carriages is made up of 2.500 carriages. 1.000 more carriages belong to the private traders- Azertrans and Middle East Petrol.
700 more oil containers have to be acquired. This is a fair number as the new locomotives will increase the turnout of train loadings and unloading, so they would be able to return for next loading back to the country.
