1at anniversary of oil pumping to BTC pipeline

Today there the 1st anniversary of commencement of pumping technical oil to Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline (BTC). On May 25, 2005 the ceremony of pumping oil to BTC was held at Sangachal terminal wit participation of Azeri President Ilham Aliyev, President of Turkey Ahmet Najat Sezer, President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili and President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, a well as top management of BTC stakeholders and governmental representatives of the US and UK.

Over 1mln bbl of oil are scheduled to transport a day via BTC by 2008. Sangachal terminal (where BTC intake flange is located) is one of the worlds largest terminals. It is planned to receive oil fro Kazakhstan as well.

At the moment oil transported via BTC is underway to Ceyhan, some 60 km from the port.

Over 9mln bbl of oil has already been pumped to the pipeline to date. In average, 150k bbl is pumped to the pipeline daily.
