Next year State Oil company of Azerbaijan republic will be working to preserve the current level of oil production, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Industry and Energy of Azerbaijan. Last year SOCAR produced 8.967mln ton at onshore and offshore fields, down 9k ton over year.
However, the Ministry representatives said, an increase of gas production is expected due to SOCAR gas program implementation, in particular at Guneshli field. This program suggests drilling new wells, low-pressure gas collection and dispatching ashore. Such operations will allow increase production at the field to 2.5mln m3 of gas a day.
During 2005, total gas production in Azerbaijan was 5.818bn m3, up 812.1mln m3 (16.2%) over year. SOCARs Oil&Gas Extraction Units produced 3.824bn m3 of gas, down 51.7mln over year. In 2005 joint ventures and operating companies produced 106.6mln m3 of gas газа, down 17.4mln ove year.
