EU becomes active in talks on Trans-Caspian project - Georgian Deputy Energy Minister

Georgia is sure in the successful implementation of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline. The Georgian Deputy Energy Minister, Aleksander Khetaguri, told Trend special correspondent in Tbilisi that over the last period the European Union has become active in the negotiations on Trans-Caspian project.

Khetaguri noted that disagreements exiting in the region put new barriers on this way.

At present there is a very difficult situation in the Caspian, as the littoral countries are still unable to divide the Caspian bottom. It posses problems for the implementation of the Trans-Caspian project, the Georgian Deputy Energy Minister said.

The EUs efforts could produce essential results and contribute Azerbaijan and Georgian in the Turkmen gas pumping to Europe via its territory, Khetaguri said, noting that the implementation of plan will serve as a guarantee for energy security of Georgia.
