The joint venture Azeri Drilling Company created between British Firstdrill Ltd and Target Petroleum is getting ready for the drilling works in 8 March field, Trend reports with reference to the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR). For this purpose, the company restores and modernizes several jackets in the field.
This year, three new wells will be drilled in 8 March field. For the realization of this project, it needs to repair three jackets which arent exploited at the moment.
According to the information provided by SOCAR, at present, the investigations held by divers have already been completed, which made a positive decision on use of jackets. The drilling equipments of Azeri Drilling Company will be installed in the jackets. The specialists of trusts of Azerdenneftik and Xaznadneftgaztik started the reconstruction of the upper parts of the jackets. The jacket No. 730 is planned to be put into exploitation on August 15. The remaining two jackets will be put into operation in September.
The 8 March field has been exploited since 1988 and the daily gas production in the field is reported at 1 mln cubic meters. It is located in the south from Absheron peninsula. At the moment, several wells are exploited in the field with high flow rate. The well No. 589 was drilled in 1989 and hasnt been stopped for repair for 17 years. It gives 400 thousand cubic meters of gas and 30 tones of condensate a day. In June of this year, a new well was given into exploitation in this part, which daily gives 100 tones of oil and 40 thousand cubic meters of gas.
According to the assessment of the geologists, there is an important volume of reserve oil, gas and condensate in 8 March field. At the moment, 9 places were selected for drilling new wells. They will be completed within half year. Putting three-four new wells will allow increasing the production by two times.
