Р'Р Azerbaijan informed Trend that it will cease the operation of the oil production platform Chirag for 10 days in accordance with its schedule to carry out its upgrade.
During this period it is planned to replace the machinery, increase water injection and carry out technical services to the equipment in order to increase the efficiency and reliability of the operations.
At present 20 wells are exploited on Chirag, including 14 oil production and 6 water injection wells. Since the beginning of exploitation drilling and the first oil production in 1997, Chirag has been working without interruptions.
In January to September 2006 the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC), which is involved in the development of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) fields has produced 5,405 mln. tons of oil against 5,238 mln. tons in 2005. In September AIOC produced 511,519 tons from Chirag against 563,400 in September 2005.
