SOCAR Publicizes State of Onshore Oil & Gas Operations

Since the beginning of development onshore fields the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has produced 940 million tons of oil and 131 billion cu m of gas. The SOCAR informed Trend that the reserves have been produced by 87%. Approximately 70% of the production falls on the depth to 3,000 meters, 20.8% - on the depth from 3,000 to 5,000 meters, 8.7% - on over 5,000 meters, the SOCAR advised.

At present 39 fields are located on the Azerbaijani onshore fields, including 20 fields under development.

The volume of oil reserves, which can be developed in the developed in the

depth ranging from 3,000 to 5,000, constitutes 54.2% and 5,000 meters 36.7%. The over-flood of fields varies from 87% to 98%, the SOCAR underscored.

The SOCAR said that at present 364 facilities are being operated through free grid of wells. There are 52,700 wells on it. Ninety-six facilities do not have exploitation fund. It is necessary restore 3,250 wells to attract them to development. There are 218 wells on 117 facilities per 1-4 on one facility

60% of all balance reserves and 70% of production fell on Absheron peninsula. The fields in the peninsula were put into exploitation in the period between 1871 and 1940. Around 25,000 wells have been drilled in 273 oil and gas facilities.
