Georgia Intends to Export Electricity to Azerbaijan

Marlen Asgarov, the Vice President of Azerenerji joint-stock company, informed that at present talks on the export of excess electricity from Georgia to Turkey and Azerbaijan is underway, Trend reports.

The State Electricity System of Georgia, which is managed by Irish Company ESBI, stated that Georgia is ready to hold talks on the transition of electricity and is now waiting for the go-ahead from Azerbaijan and Turkey to accept the electricity. Georgia intends to export 1.5mln KW/h electricity a day to Azerbaijan and Turkey.

Georgia owes Azerbaijan 13mln KW/h of electricity, said Saleh Mammadov, senior Engineer for ESBI.
