Oil&Gas Materials 25 November 2006 13:55 (UTC +04:00)

Azerbaijan has proposed Georgia to carry out the electric power interchange. The Georgian party may supply Azerbaijan with electric power at night when Georgia experiences the excess of this energy, and be supplied back with the same volume in the day time, said Etibar Piriverdiyev, President of Azernerji JCS, Trend reports.

According to Mr. Piriverdiyev, 95% of the electric power generation in Georgia falls at its hydro electric power stations. Therefore, the peak electric power generation falls at night. The Georgian party may supply Azerbaijan with up to 100MWatt of electric power, and be reimbursed with the same volume of electric power.

Touching upon the issue on Georgian electric debts to Azerbaijan, the head of Azerenerji said that it would be paid back within the near ten months at the existing volume of the electric energy supply. According to a message spread by the Georgian Electric Energy System Company, which is managed by Ireland's ESBI, the Georgian party is capable to transmit electric power. They need replies from Azerbaijan and Turkey on their technical preparedness to receive this electric energy.

Georgia's electric debts to Azerbaijan are 13 mln. kWatt/hour of electric power. The mutual calculation on the electric debts is expected to be completed in the near future.
