SOCAR to Build New Gas Pipeline for Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli and Shah Deniz Fields

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has set up the construction of a new gas pipeline from major rigs of the Sangachal terminal to a Compression Station in Hajigabul District. SOCAR informed Trend that the gas pipeline will transport gas from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli and Shah Deniz fields to the national gas transportation system under the pressure of 41 bar and 90 bar.

The 1,220mm gas pipeline will function at a daily capacity of 21mln cu.m. The pipeline will be built by CaspMorNefteGasStroy Trust at the order of SOCAR Gas Department. The subcontractor on the project is a joint venture Azfen.

The construction of a 47km long pipeline will be carried out in two stages. In the first stage, there are plans to build the 23km long Sangachal-Kalmaz line and in the second stage, the 24km long Kalmaz-Hajigabul line. All contemporary methods of security will be applied in the pipeline. At present the fabrication of pipes with triple anti-corrosion isolation and the purchase of equipment are underway.
