In January to November 2006 the Azerbaijan International Oil Company, which is involved in the development of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli fields produced 20,962 mln tons of oil from the contract area, or 9,262 mln tons more than 2005.
Rise in production is explained with the commencement of the oil production from West Azeri in January 2006 and in East Azeri in November 2006.
Over the first 11 months of 2006 the AIOC produced from the Chirag field 6,398 mln tons of oil against 6,465 mln tons of oil in January to November 2005. During this period the production from the Azeri field made up 14,564 mln tons against 5,241mln tons in 2005.
In November 2006 the total production by AIOC made up 2,463 mln tons against 1.54mln tons in November 2005. In November 2006 oil production from the Chirag field made up 561,812 tons against 630,700 tons in November 2005. Production from Azeri field in October 2006 constituted 1,901 mln tons of oil against 910,200 tons in 2005.
