Preparation Held for Construction of Two New Pipelines of SOCAR

In the near future, the construction of the new underwater gas pipe will commence within the contract between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and McDermott Caspian Contractors Inc. (MCCI), Trend reports with reference to the SOCAR.

The construction project of this pipeline has been designed by State Scientific-Research Institute Sea Oil and Gas Project. According to the project, it is intended to construct 20-inch gas pipe. Necessary investigations have been held in the pipe-affected territory. The maximal depth in this part of the sea is 123 meters and minimal 11- meters. 52 km pipes have been acquired from the German Mannesmann for the construction of the pipeline. Presently the concreting of the pipes has been completed. Laying of the pipeline will be realized from pipe-laying barge Israfil Huseynov, with the help of the special diving boat Academician Tofig Ismaylov.

According to the terms of the contract, the volume of the works of McDermott includes constructing 20-inch low-pressure gas pipe in length of 18,4 km from the platform GMO-04 in Gunashli field to the gas-compressor station located in Oil Stones. In addition, McDermott will construct 20-inch high-pressure gas pipe in length of 24,5 km and in depth of up to 123 m from platform GMO-14 in Gunashli field to the gas collector located in Oil Stones.

The volume of the works of McDermott also includes the assemblage of the sections of the pipes for bracing the pipes, installing poles, as well as initial balancing and commissioning works.
