Over 650 anticline oil areas have been found as a result of the geophysical research carried in Azerbaijan. Gumbat Valiyev, an employee of the Geophysics and Geologic department of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), said that oil and gas deposits were found on 71 fields, Trend reports.
Forty three are onshore, 28 ones вЂ" are offshore fields located in the Caspian sector of Azerbaijan.
36 deposits are operating onshore and 18 offshore. Exploratory work is being carried out on 8 fields.
SOCAR operating wells fund (except joint-stock enterprises and operating companies) reach 6,174 wells, with 4,742 wells currently operating, and 1,422 wells remaining in the non-operating fund.
