Azerbaijan, AIOC Achieve Agreement on Increase of Associated Gas Delivery

Oil&Gas Materials 13 January 2007 14:44 (UTC +04:00)

Azerbaijan has achieved an agreement with Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC), operated by Р'Р , on delivery of maximal volume of associated gas from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli fields in 2007, Trend reports. The figure is expected to reach 9mln cu m of gas a day.

Azerbaijan received over 8mln cu m of gas a day. Some 7mln cu m of this volume is delivered from Sangachal oil terminal and 1.2mln from Oil Rocks.

Earlier, the total delivery of associated gas lifted from ACG was expected to reach 1.4bln cu m in 2007. Р'Р  pumps the associated gas produced from the fields to layers to maintain the stratum pressures. The volume of pumping might decrease and cause drop in oil production from the fields, if part of the production is given to Azerbaijan.

Earlier the AIOC raised a question on payment of compensation for the volumes of oil to be lost during delivery to Azerbaijan and respectively for gas pumping to stratums for sustaining pressures. The SOCAR has no intention to compensate this volume.
