Oil&Gas Materials 15 January 2007 16:43 (UTC +04:00)

Any outstanding debts which have arisen from consumers, prior to 8 January, 2007 when the new electric power tariffs came into force, will be accepted at the old rate, a source in BakiElektrikSHabaka JSC, who is presently engaged in managing the electric power networks of Baku City, has informed Trend today.

All tariffs will be calculated in this manner where customers will only be charged the new rates as from 8 January 2007: any previous outstanding debts will be calculated at the old rate.

Any queries regarding the rates can be directed to the Electric Power Distribution District Departments. Previously, certain media, as a means of provocation, had falsely publicized that any outstanding debts formed prior to 8 January, 2007 would be calculated at the new tariff.

Notably, on 8 January, 2007, the Azerbaijan Tariff Council increased the cost for 1 Watt of electric power from 2 gapiks (0.2 AZN) to 6 gapiks (0.6 AZN).
