Transporting Azerbaijani Gas to Europe is Priority for NABUCCO OMV Director

The President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Rovnak Abdullayev, held a meeting with a delegation headed by the Head Executive Director of the Oil Company of Austria OMV, Volfgang Ruttenshtorfer, Trend reports referring to a statement from SOCAR.

Ruttenshtorfer stressed that OMV is one of key partners in realizing the NABUCCO project.

He stressed that over the recent period, the demand from Europe for gas has increased, and NABUCCO has attached great importance to guarantee this demand.

There is no doubt that Azerbaijan will in the future play an important role as an exporter and transit country to transport oil and gas from the Caspian in the direction of NABUCCO to Europe. Transporting Azerbaijani gas to Europe is a priority for NABUCCO, Ruttenshtorfer said.

The presentation of the NABUCCO project was held during a meeting with the representatives of the Company.

Rovnak Abdullayev said that Azerbaijan is interested in exporting its hydrocarbon resources to Europe.

The Head of SOCAR stressed that gas reserves in Azerbaijan do not end with Shah Deniz. According to forecasts of geologists and geophysics there are more gas reserves in other prospective structures. In addition, the meeting covered delivery of Azerbaijani gas to Europe and prospects of the co-operation.
