Azerbaijani Oil Shipped from Ceyhan by VLCC Tankers for the First Time

The Turkish port Ceyhan, which receives Azerbaijani oil produced from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) fields via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export oil pipeline, for the first time, accepted a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) tanker, with the deadweight of 2mln barrels of oil. BP Azerbaijan, an operator of ACG, informed Trend that it was shipped with 1.2mln barrels of oil.

The company said that in February one more tanker of VLCC type will arrive at the terminal with 2mln barrels of oil.

An oil cargo comprised of 2mln barrels of oil, will be shipped on between February 10th and 11th by Statoil, an ACG shareholder.

The traders informed that in February 2007 BP will ship 8 tankers with the total volume of 5,957mln barrels of oil.

So far this year SOCAR sold a total of 2.6mln barrels of oil from Ceyhan. The oil cargoes have been purchased by the companies:

Glencore Energy UK Ltd вЂ" January (1mln barrels).

VД°LMA OД°L S.L вЂ" January вЂ" February (1mln barrels)

Select Energy GmbH вЂ" February (600,000 barrels).

Recently, SOCAR has announced a tender on sale of oil cargos with the volume of 1mln barrels, which will be shipped from the Ceyhan port in February & March.
