SOCAR Probably to Resume Export of Own Oil via Northern Route

SOCAR is considering opportunities for restoring oil transportation via the Baku-Novorossiyk main oil pipeline, Trend reports. The volume of the oil consignment to be sold in February will reach 60.000 tons. According to traders, this cargo might be shipped on 27-28 February from pier 6 or 7. It will be SOCAR own oil produced from its own fields. This can be formed as a result of vacant gas which is currently sent to oil refinery plant for production of fuel for power grids. Azerbaijan party has recently repudiated to buy the Russian gas. The mazut will replace Russian gas to generate electric power at electric power stations of the country. SOCAR totally exported 3,462mln tons of crude oil in 2006. SOCAR exported 1,172mln tons of crude last year (1,631mln tons in 2005) via the northern route.
