In January 2007 the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC), which is involved in the development of Azeri-Chiragh-Gunashli (ACG) fields, produced 2.7mln tons of Azeri Light oil on the contract area. This figure is 1,327mln tons more versus 2006.
Increase in production in explained with the commencement of oil production from East Azeri field in November 2006. In January 2006 the oil production from Chirag field was 612,029 tons against 636,100 thousand tons in January 2006. 2,089mln tons of oil was produced from Azeri Field, or 737,600 tons in January 2006. In 2006 AIOC produced 23.26mln tons of Azeri Light oil from the contract area. In 2006 the oil production from Chirag Field made up 6,977mln tons versus 7,028mln tons in 2005. 16,283mln tons of oil were produced from Azeri Field in 2006 versus 6,109mln tons in 2005.
