Azerbaijan State Railway Intends to Transport Oil Products to Georgian Port of Kulevi

Russia , Moscow / corr . Trend R.Agayev / Arif Asgarov, the Head of Azerbaijan State Railway (ASR), informed Trend Correspondent in Moscow that the Azerbaijan State Railway intends to transport oil products from Turkmenistan , Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan to the Georgian port of Kulevi .

Asgarov noted "Kulevi port is under construction and to be commissioned in April and ASR has shown its interest to participate in this project with regards to the general increase of deliveries. After the commissioning of Kulevi, ASR aims to carry out cargo deliveries via the port with more cargoes being delivered the better," he added.

The capacity of the terminal, which is owned by the Azerbaijan State Oil Company, is 10 mln tons. The total capacity of reservoirs at the terminal is 320,000 cu m. It is planned to increase the discharge capacity of the terminal to 15-20 mln tons and increase the reservoirs to 380,000 cu m.

Four railway routes are able to deliver 168 cisterns to the terminal with the construction of an access duct and 3 piers.

There is also a laboratory in Kulevi for testing oil and oil products in accordance with the international standards and a mobile of tanker park comprised of 9 subsidiary vessels. Work over construction of a railway route and special piers for gas loading, which will be under the SOCAR's possession.
