SOCAR Sells Oil from Batumi

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Aliyev / The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has closed a tender on the sale of the first tanker with 600,000 barrels of profit oil in 2007 from the Georgian Black Sea Port of Batumi. Swiss trader Addax won the tender.

The shipment of the cargo is scheduled for 20 - 21 March, 2007.

SOCAR ships profit oil produced from Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields.

The Batumi oil terminal is capable of handling up to 15 mln tons of bulk oil cargo a year. The terminal service tankers of 30,000-90,000 tons deadweight on four berths include a special buoy for the vessels of the Aframax class. Presently the terminal tank loading capacity is about 530,000 tons, which is more than enough for the handling of current and forecasted cargos.

SOCAR's cargoes were sold to the following companies in Batumi 2007:

Addax - January (600,000 barrels)

Addax - March (600,000 barrels).
