Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr S. Aliyev / Azerenerjy Joint-Stock Company informed that a diplomatic mission by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is to vist Azerbaijan so that to render technical assistance to the project on recoverble energy resources. The ADB is to allocate a $30 mln credit for impementaion of the project.

A wind-electric grid wil be built in Azerbaijan within the framework of the international programme Vinpro. Fourty 2 MW-wind electric grids are to be set up first of all. The place for their location is still under consideration. The grids will be fabricated by German-Danish Vestas.

According to the experts' calculations, the grids are capable of producing 240mln KW of energy per hour. Researches revealed that the Absheron Peninsula and the nearby islands have great potentials for wind energy production. Average annual speed of wind at the height of 40 meters above sea level is about 8m per seconds.

Marlen Askerov, the Vice-President of the Azerenerjy, informed that no country in the world takes into consideration the wind-electric grids when compiling an energy-balance. During the construction of the new 300 MW modular electric power station in Sangachal, a test wind-electric grid with the capacity of 6 MW is to be constructed nearby. The definite importance and significance of the grids in Azerbaijan will be estimated after the testing. "Small hydroelectric power stations are more effective than the wind-electric ones, as they are of great importance for energy system," Askerov stressed.
