Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr S. Aliyev / Farhad Mammadov, the head of the Offhore Exploration Drilling Unit at the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) Bayil Limani, informed the enterprise is to drill 24 oil wells in 2007, particularly on the Guneshli and Oil Rocks fields. Total drill footage will comprise 60,700 metres.
Nineteen wells out of the total are to be drilled for gas production. The drilling work will be conducted within the framework of SOCAR Programme on Gas Production Increase in Azerbaijan. As a result of the implementation of the Programme the production of gas in 2007 is to reach 8bln cu m.
Gas production is expected to increase in future.
The programme also implies construction of a new gas-compressor station and construction of high and low pressure pipelines.
