Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Aliyev / The Vice President of Azerenergy JSC, Marlen Askerov, said on 27 March that presently Iran delivers nearly 7-8 MW/h electric power to Azerbaijan per day. Nakchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan, which receives 60-100 MW/h electricity, is also supplied with electricity at the expense of the deliveries from Iran. The volume of the debts of Azerbaijan for the electricity delivered from Iran equals nearly 400 mln KW/h. Azerbaijan will begin returning its electricity debts to Iran in April-May.

The electric power is delivered via electric lines Astara ( Iran)-Astara ( Azerbaijan). Azerbaijan and Iran signed a contract on the energy system set up between the two countries in a parallel regime from December 1 2006. This contract envisages Azerbaijan to receive 600-700 kVt electric power in a month during winter, and return the same volume during the summer.
