Azersun Holding Announced Plans on Construction of a New Oil Terminal in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku/ Trend corr. S. Aliyev / Abdulbari Gozel, the Chief of Azersun Holding, has said today that the construction of a new oil terminal in Garadagh District of Azerbaijan will be launched in four months.

According to him, the cost of the consstruction works of the terminal will reach $80-90 mln. The facility is expected to be constructed in the three stages:

At the fisrt stage, the new oil terminal's trans-shipment capacity will be 15 mln. tons of oil per year, 25 mln. tons of oil at the second stage, and finaly 35040 mln. tons of oil at the third (final) stage.

"The fisrt stage of the construction of the new oil terminal is scheduled to be completed within 1.5 years," he said.

The negotiations between the shareholders of the terminal and the TengizChevroil Consortium on the issue of trans-shipment of oil from the Kazakhstan oil deposit of Tengiz , as well as talks with TOTAL of France on the issue of oil trans-shipment from Kazakhstan's giant oil deposit of Kashagan are under completion now.

The shareholders of the oil terminal in Garadagh District of Azerbaijan are: "Azerbaijan Investment Company" (AIC) JSC - 25 percent, "Kavkaztransservis" JSC - 20 percent, as well as the Islamic Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, etc are among them.

The oil will be carried via BTC (Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline), which receiving flange is four km away from the oil terminal.
