Azerbaijan Prepares to Cooperate with  Russia  Iran in Middle Asia Gas Transportation to  Europe – Azerbaijani Energy Minister

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Aliyev / On 2 April the Azerbaijani Ministry for Industry and Energy hosted a multilateral meeting with the European Union, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan on the Caspian Sea, Black Sea

During the meeting representatives of the European Union stated that the EU is prepared to render political and financial support to the construction of a Trans-Caspian gas pipeline. Particularly, the EU is ready to act as one of its sponsors.

The Azerbaijani Minister for Industry and Energy, Natik Aiyev, said that Azerbaijan is ready to cooperate not only with Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, but also Russia and Iran in gas transportation to Europe via the territory of Azerbaijan.

Talks focused on the reconstruction of electricity and gas networks between Azerbaijan and Georgia, the reconstruction of two underground gas reservoirs in Azerbaijan and the construction of pump stations, transportation of Turkmenistan to Kazakhstan, refinery and transportation of liquefied gas to Baku port and onwards to Europe, definition of final price of liquefied gas at the European market, opportunities for construction of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline and Kazakhstan's gas reserves.

Attending the meeting were Azerbaijani Minister for Industry and Energy, Natik Aiyev, the Georgian Energy Minister, Nika Gilauri, Head of the Gas Department of the Energy Ministry of Kazakhstan, Anarbek Tulanbekov and EU representatives.
